Plymouth Argyle are lining up a deal to try and tempt former striker, Joe Mason back to the club after he was recently became a free agent.

Plymouth boss, Derek Adams confirmed the latest development on the potential deal in a press conference, and they will be eagerly waiting to hear the outcome of their offer.

Mason spent two successful seasons with his boyhood club, scoring ten times, in both League One and the Championship in his first seasons as a professional.

He has spent prolonged spells at the likes of Cardiff and Wolves since leaving Plymouth, and could be set for a route back to the club where he made his name.

Mason did make appearances in League One last year, after playing briefly for Portsmouth where he made four appearances.

But with Wolves terminating his contract, he is currently without a club which has put Plymouth on high alert.

With Adams confirming that they have submitted an offer to bring Mason back to the club, it remains to be seen as to which direction this deal could go in.

One thing is for sure though, in saying that Plymouth supporters would be delighted to have him back at the club as soon as possible.

The Verdict:

What a signing this would be!

It's the stuff of dreams to see a former fans favourite return, and Mason would certainly be able to cut it at League One level.

If they can pull this off, then I have no doubt in saying that Plymouth would have no trouble in retaining their status as a League One club.
