Jordan Ayew is still likely to move away from the Liberty Stadium this summer, but a family spokesman has confirmed it will not be to Scottish giants Celtic.

Fiifi Tackie, a family spokesman, has been discussing the transfer latest. He told Goal, reported on Football Ghana, that Ayew was not the subject of interest from Celtic, despite some media reports.

"There was no iota of truth in the story that Celtic were closing in on Jordan. No iota of truth or whatsoever," Tackie said. "Of course there are clubs knocking on his doors [ahead of next season] but I cannot confirm, conclude or say anything about it as at now."

Whilst Tackie refused to confirm or deny any more movement, he then spoke of Swansea's bid, reported to be in the region of £8m, that was rejected last week. According to him, the bid has not been rejected.

"On Fulham, according to Sky Sports, they've made a £8 million offer to Swansea City but I haven't been told of any rejection. I heard about their offer in the news and read it also on social media but I can't confirm or deny [that Jordan is aware of the impending deal]. If you were Jordan, between Premier League and Championship, which one would you choose?"

Ayew scored seven times in the top flight for Swansea last season, finishing with eleven in all competitions as the Swans were relegated.

The Verdict

Well, that's clearer then isn't it? We do know Celtic were not interested, but on the Fulham bid it is as clear as mud. The spokesman clearly knows something, but he's not confirming it, nor denying it. It sounds very much as though Ayew will be on the move and this is an attempt to keep his name on the back pages and in manager's thoughts.
