It is expected to be a busy month for Nottingham Forest, with Sabri Lamouchi undoubtedly looking to bolster his squad in preparation for the second-half of the campaign.

A top six finish looks to be a major possibility for Forest, who sit nine points off the automatic promotion spots with a game in hand.

Having won their last three games on the bounce, the Reds are starting to pick up at a crucial stage of the season, although reinforcements will be needed if they are to maintain their promotion push.

A host of names have already been linked with a move to the City Ground, with a new centre-forward likely to be right at the top of Lamouchi's wishlist this month.

Other areas of the pitch need addressing too, though, whilst some of their current players face uncertain futures on Trentside for one reason or another.

Can you get 15 out of 15 on this Forest quiz?

Here, then, we take a look at how Forest's January transfer window could play out if speculation is to be believed...

In: Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah is on the lookout for a new club to spend time on loan at, after his spell at Leeds United was cut short by parent club Arsenal last week.

The 20-year-old found regular game time hard to come by at Elland Road, and despite scoring five goals in all competitions, he only managed to start just twice in the Championship.

Now, the Gunners will be looking to send Nketiah out on loan to another Championship side, with the Reds being heavily linked with the young forward's signature.

The Athletic claim that Forest, Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday are all interested in taking the striker on loan, with the second-half of the campaign now upon us.

Whether Nketiah would face a similar fate to what he faced at Leeds, though, is another question - would he get into the team ahead of the red-hot Lewis Grabban?

In: Lyle Taylor

Another striker that is said to be on Forest's radar, and is likely to leave his current club this month, is Charlton Athletic's Lyle Taylor.

Taylor scored 25 goals to help the Addicks win promotion from League One via the play-offs last season, and has since scored seven goals in 13 games this time around.

But the 29-year-old is said to have rejected yet another fresh contract offer from the club, and are now set to listen to offers for their star forward.

With his current deal at The Valley expiring at the end of this season, Forest have a real chance to snap up Taylor this month.

In: Alex Mowatt

Whilst a winger and striker is believed to be on Forest's radar, they have also been linked with the signing of Barnsley midfielder Alex Mowatt, as per The Athletic.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Barnsley over the last few years, and scored eight goals and added eight assists to help them win promotion from League One last term.

This season, the creative midfielder has scored twice and set up seven goals, as the Tykes look to steer well clear from the relegation zone and an immediate drop back down to the third tier.

He could add some real industry to Forest's midfield, however Barnsley will surely be reluctant to let go of their star midfielder.

Forest's club-record signing has flattered to deceive since arriving from Benfica for £13.2m last summer.

The Portuguese midfielder has scored six goals and produced nine assists in 60 appearances for the Reds, and has been in and out of the team under Sabri Lamouchi this term.

Tiago Silva seems to be Lamouchi's preferred option out of the pair, and with Mowatt now being linked with a move to the East Midlands, this could push Carvalho even further down the pecking order.

Olympiacos and Trabzonspor have been linked with moves for Carvalho, and it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see him depart this month.

Out: Zach Clough

One player who has been completely frozen out at the City Ground is Clough, and a January exit looks likely for the midfielder.

The 24-year-old signed for Forest from Bolton Wanderers in 2017, but has since made only 13 Championship starts for the Nottinghamshire outfit.

Having failed to make an appearance for the Reds since January 2018, he is likely to be one of the first players to leave the City Ground this month.

Out: Aro Muric

It has been a hugely disappointing spell for Muric, since joining the club on loan from Manchester City in the summer.

The 21-year-old has made just five first-team appearances for the Reds, and has fallen behind Brice Samba in the pecking order.

Jordan Smith has worked his way into the matchday squad ahead of Muric, too, with City expected to recall the Kosovo international in order to send him out elsewhere.
