Reading FC have endured a shocking start to the season under manager Paul Clement that sees them languising at the foot of the table without a win to their name.

With the situation poor on the pitch, off the field it is all change following the departure of Technical Director Brian Tevreden who has left the Madejski to become CEO of Belgian side KSV Roeselare.

Tevreden has been replaced by 55-year-old Italian Gianluca Nani who has joined with the title of Sporting Director.

So is Nani's appointment good news for Reading?

We discuss.....

I have no idea what is going on at Reading, this is a little odd and a little worrying, this appointment.

Things at boardroom level do not appear as the club may want them to and this appointment, is strange.

Having seen their previous sporting director Brian Tevreden quit and join a Belgium side, this replacement was swift and potentially lined up.

Strange times at the Madejski.

Only if you forget the other stuff going on behind the scenes.

I get the sense all is not well with the Royals and whilst this seems to be a positive move, you have to consider why the previous incumbent left.

I worry about Reading this season, they’ve got ‘crisis club’ written all over them.

George Harbey

It’s clear Reading need a bit of stability of the pitch, as currently, there seems to be no organisation or clarity in the upper hierarchy of the club.

If Nani can come in and provide them attributes, then it’ll be a shrewd appointment for sure.
