Charlton Athletic have confirmed the signing of Preston North End striker Jayden Stockley on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old - who has appeared 16 times in the league for the Lilywhites this season - joins the Addicks in search of regular game-time having started just four times.

Stockley has never been that prolific in his two years so far at Deepdale, but he will bring more than just goals to Lee Bowyer's side, with the Charlton boss hoping that Stockley's presence will bring other attacking players into the goals.

For Preston manager Alex Neil it was a case of letting Stockley go out and get some regular minutes, with the signing of Ched Evans on loan from Fleetwood this month seemingly being the final straw for the Dorset-born man - for this season at least.

"Jayden needs to play. There have been a couple of times this season he was due to start and then for one reason or another, we couldn't play him," Neil told the Lancashire Post.
"Had he been able to start those he would have got a bit more rhythm.
