Brentford defender Pontus Jansson returned to Elland Road for the first time since leaving Leeds United last night and many Whites fans appear to disagree with The Athletic journalist Phil Hay’s verdict on his performance.

Jansson was sold to the Bees in June for a reported fee of £5.5 million after making 120 appearances across three seasons with the Whites.

He returned to west Yorkshire as Brentford captain last night and saw his side defeated 1-0 by the hosts, with summer signing Eddie Nketiah scoring the winner in the 81st-minute.

The victory keeps Leeds top of the Championship and sees the visitors slip down into 18th place.

After the game, Hay took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the performance of the Sweden international.

Much of the talk in the build-up to the game had been about the centre-back’s return, particularly about the reception he would get at Elland Road.

It seems Jansson did not get a great reaction as he was reportedly serenaded with a rendition of ‘You're Leeds and you know you are’ and received boos from some fans.

Parts of the Elland Road faithful don’t seem to be missing the centre-back as many fans were in staunch disagreement with Hay’s assessment of Jansson’s evening and made that clear via Twitter.
