‘Straight into the first team’ – Many Middlesbrough fans react to club announcement

Middlesbrough have announced the signing of youngster Malik Dijksteel, the club have confirmed.
Malik, the younger brother of Boro’s first-team right-back Anfernee, has been rewarded for his impressive trial at the Riverside Stadium with a short-term deal.
The 19-year-old former Feyenoord Academy player turned out for Middlesbrough’s Under-23s in their defeat to Stoke City last Monday, plus a recent training ground friendly against Huddersfield Town at Boro’s Rockliffe Park base.
Assombalonga? Saville? β Can you name which Middlesbrough player scored each these 15 goals this season?
Middlesbrough enjoyed a strong January window, which included bringing in the likes former Cardiff City attacker Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Fulham winger Neeskens Kebano on loan, although Malik is expected to continue linking up with the club’s Academy team.
Anfernee himself is already a popular figure on Teeside and signed a new contract extension back in November following his excellent form since joining from Charlton the summer before last.
