Following their underwhelming first campaign back in the Championship last season, there has been much discussion about a squad overhaul at Stoke in the summer transfer window.

That of course has led to a good deal of speculation around the club now that the window is open, with a number of players linked to the club.

Here, we round up some of the latest transfer rumours around Stoke City...

Jack Butland

For all the talk of incomings at Stoke, we start with a potential outgoing, and a big money one at that.

According to The Sun, The Potters have slapped a £23million price tag on goalkeeper Jack Butland, who is said to be attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides.

The latest top flight outfit to be linked are newly promoted Aston Villa, who are believed to be preparing a £20million bid for the England international in order to recruit a number one with more top flight experience, The Sun have reported.

Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu

A new name to be linked with the club, Stoke boss Nathan Jones is keen on Luton midfielder Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, who he managed at Kenilworth Road for three years before his move to the bet365 Stadium.

The midfielder has played a big part in the back to back promotions that have seen Luton reach the Championship ahead of next season, although the Stoke Sentinel claim that Jones wants Mpanzu to make his debut in the division with Stoke rather than Luton.

That deal however is expected to depend on whether or not Stoke can clear space in their midfield positions for the 25-year-old.

Nick Powell

It was first reported by The Sun last month that Stoke had secured the signing of Nick Powell following the expiration of his contract at Wigan.

With that yet to be announced however it does seem to appear to have led to some nervy moments around this particular deal, with Team Talk reporting that The Potters held off a late bid from Scottish champions Celtic for the 25-year-old, who also received interest from several other Premier League and Championship sides.

Glenn Whelan

A former Stoke stalwart, Whelan could be set for a return to Staffordshire.

The midfielder made 338 appearances for Stoke in all competitions between 2008 and 2017, before moving to Aston Villa. Having now been released by Villa following their promotion to the Premier League, The Stoke Sentinel have reported that Stoke are considering a move to bring Whelan back to the club, a move the midfielder is also thought to be keen on.

That could be complicated however by recent reports from the Lancashire Telegraph that Stoke's Championship rivals Blackburn have also enquired about Whelan's availability.

Matthew Pennington

It looks as though the Everton defender's move to the bet365 Stadium is edging closer to completion.

Having previously reported that Stoke were leading the chase for the centre back, The Stoke Sentinel have now described Pennington's transfer to Stoke as 'all but done', adding a fresh defensive option for Nathan Jones next season.
