Following the announcement earlier in the week that Charlie Adam; Darren Fletcher and Jakob Haugaard will all leave Stoke City at the end of the season, the club's much discussed summer overhaul has now been given another helping hand, if reports are to be believed.

According to The Stoke Sentinel, a man claiming to be the agent of Saido Berahino has told Turkish media that the striker wants to terminate his contract with Stoke at the end of the season and move to a club abroad, with Fenerbache among the potential destinations for the 25-year-old.

Given the Burundi international's record for The Potters since he arrived at the bet365 Stadium from West Brom in January 2017, this is a report that Potters fans will surely want to see come to fruition.

Berahino has scored just five goals in 56 appearance in all competitions for The Potters, and has featured just twice since the arrival of current manager Nathan Jones in January.

That surely means that Berahino is one of the names in the firing line when it comes to overhauling a sizeable chunk of the Potters squad in the summer, and given that his record would likely make him a difficult sell to clubs looking to strengthen their own squads, this news will surely play into Stoke's hands.

The opportunity to get Berahino off the books is surely one that Stoke fans will want to see their club take, to free up space in the squad and funds for wages ahead of the recruitment that many feel is badly needed at the club if they are to push for a place in the top flight again, something many Potters fans were expecting them to have done by now anyway.

Berahino was once on of the bright young stars of the Premier League, now it seems his club may have to let him go if they are to get back to the promised land. It is yet another reminder of just how drastically things can change in football.
