Stoke City confirmed the signing of Danny Batth from Wolves yesterday as they look to get themselves back towards the right end of the table.

The Potters have struggled this year and it's now up to Nathan Jones to try and turn things around after Gary Rowett was removed from his duties as manager.

For sure, it won't be an overnight fix but Jones has shown some positive signs and it's clear that he wants to add some attacking impetus and fresh legs across his team.

Batth, then, isn't an attacking arrival but he is a hungry, mobile defender that looks to play in a modern way.

He can play in a back-three or a back-four that will suit Nathan Jones' tactical flexibility and he can play the ball well - which means he offers something different to many of the Potters' current crop.

This season, the Stoke back-line has often looked off of the pace and, arguably, over the hill.

They have good players in their defensive ranks, but they've underperformed, and so this move should give them a rocket, as well as giving Batth the chance to start playing again.

A leader and a good person into the bargain, Stoke have signed a very handy defender here and fans should be quietly content with the deal.
