Stoke City fans have taken to Twitter after it’s been rumoured that former boss Tony Pulis could be a potential replacement for the under-pressure Nathan Jones.

The Potters are second-bottom of the Championship with just two points from their opening eight games. Manager Nathan Jones is on the verge of losing his job at The Bet 365 Stadium, and the bookies are already making their predictions about who might replace him.

One name from the bunch that has generated greater discussion is Tony Pulis. The roving Welshman took Stoke into the Premier League for the first time in their history in 2008 before being dismissed in 2013. Pulis has since gone on to have spells in charge of Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough.

Pulis or miss?

Potters fans are well and truly divided on what would be a third stint in charge at Stoke for Tony Pulis. His previous achievements with the club are cherished and forever remembered by fans, but many of them see this as a sideways step, and would rather see the current manager Jones turn it around.

Some fans though were open to the news. Pulis played a notoriously bland brand of football but he got results, which right now is what Jones can’t do with Stoke. Still at this early stage of the season, avoiding relegation seems to be the number one priority for Stoke fans, who seem keen on a ‘by whatever means necessary’ approach, which might mean an unlikely return Pulis.
