Stoke City threw away a two-goal lead at Sheffield Wednesday yesterday to make it more misery for new manager Gary Rowett.

The Potters have struggled for any sort of consistent form at all under Rowett, and this latest result was just another example of how Stoke are indeed struggling to get wins on the board.

A host of summer signings have so far failed to gel it would seem, and the longer their poor run goes on, the further away those all important playoff places slip from their grasp.

However, one player who has impressed and ran the show somewhat yesterday is new midfielder Ryan Woods, who looked a cut above anyone else on the park during the draw with the Owls yesterday.

Woods, a summer addition from Brentford, bossed the game in the middle, and looks to have all the hallmarks of being a top Premier League player if he can indeed get himself in and amongst the elite in the English game.

On yesterday's showing and given his ability, it would be a surprise to see the Potters hang on to their star midfielder for any period of time, especially if they do indeed miss out on a promotion of their own.

Woods looks simply made for the top flight, and with Premier League clubs increasingly taking risks and signing Championship talent, a move into the top flight might well not be too far away for the former Bees midfielder.

Stoke fans, do you agree? How impressive is Woods? Let us know in the comments!
