It has been a hugely positive few weeks on the pitch for Stoke City, who have started 2020 off in really impressive style thus far.

The Potters have won three of their last four matches and now sit seven points clear of the relegation zone, following impressive wins over West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

Michael O'Neill's side are in electric form, and they will be hoping for bigger and better things as they look to continue steering well clear of the drop zone.

Off the pitch, it has been a somewhat quiet month for the Potters, with less than a week to go until the January transfer window slams shut.

The club have only managed to bring in one player in Blackpool midfielder, Jordan Thompson, with Badou N'Diaye, Peter Etebo and Ryan Woods all departing this month.

Can you get 14 out of 14 on this Stoke quiz?

Here, then, we take a look at what's happening on the transfer front of late...

Scott Hogan

Hogan faces an uncertain future at the bet365 Stadium, with Alan Nixon claiming that the club are looking to find another club for the player to move to.

Hogan has scored three goals since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa in the summer, but has fallen behind the likes of Tyrese Campbell and Sam Vokes in the pecking order.

The 27-year-old just hasn't been able to force his way into O'Neill's plans, having made only three appearances under the former Northern Ireland boss so far.

According to Nixon, Villa aren't keen on recalling Hogan from his loan spell, but Stoke would be willing to pay to cut his loan deal short and send him out on loan elsewhere.

Harold Moukoudi

Via French newspaper Le Parisien, Stoke are among a host of clubs chasing Saint Etienne defender Mokoudi.

The centre-half is reportedly wanted by West Bromwich Albion, Derby County and Barnsley as well as Stoke, with only days remaining in the transfer window.

The 22-year-old is highly regarded in France and is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in Ligue 1, having made 15 appearances in all competitions this term.

Having kept two successive clean sheets in the Championship though, Stoke's defensive performances seem to be on the up, so Moukoudi may find it tough to get into the side if he joined Stoke.

Jack Simpson

On the topic of defenders, Stoke have been given a boost in their pursuit of AFC Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson.

Cherries boss, Eddie Howe, has told the Daily Echo that the young defender needs regular game time, amid reported interest from the likes of Stoke, Middlesbrough and Derby.

The 23-year-old has made only three appearances in the Premier League this season and looks set for a loan move away from the Vitality Stadium this month.

Again, Stoke have an ilk of defenders at the club so Simpson will need to ensure that he makes the right move away from Bournemouth if he were to leave.
