Stoke City are plotting a move for Fulham defender Dan Burn in the summer transfer window, according to the Sun.

Mark Hughes has explicitly stated that he is looking to bring in a British centre-half after the success of Ryan Shawcross, and the Welshman has been watching Burn and identified the 23-year-old centre-half as a potential signing that he could develop.

Although the 6ft 7in defender has been involved in a defence that has leaked over 50 goals this season already, Mark Hughes still considers him to be a good prospect and would provide adequate cover for Shawcross, Philipp Wollscheid, and Marc Muniesa.

The young centre-half already has experience playing in the Premier League for Fulham, and that combined with the combative nature and raw pace of the Championship would stand him in good stead if he was to return to the Premier League.

There has been a transformation with the Potters being one of the best sides to watch in the Premier League, however Hughes is looking to bring in a centre half that is not necessarily a ball playing or one that is particularly good on the ball.

Instead he is looking for one that would provide grit and a determination to help Stoke keep clean sheets and win matches, and Burn may well be that player.
