Breaking into the first-team of a Premier League club is a mean feat to accomplish in the era of big money signings, but Stoke City’s Tom Edwards is one young star could achieve just that in the coming years.

The defender’s impressive performances in the Potters’ U18 side saw the youngster rewarded with the Player of the Year award, as well as a call-up to the UEFA U19 European Championships in Georgia this summer with England.

On his return, a loan move to expose the youngster to first team football should be a priority for manager Mark Hughes in order to see the player continue his development, and clubs across the Football League are sure to show an interest in the impressive defender.

Neighbours Port Vale were recently relegated to League Two, but manager Michael Brown is putting together a side capable of launching a promotion challenge, and should consider bringing Edwards to the club.

Promotion from the division is extremely difficult, and the league looks especially competitive this season with a number of big clubs joining the division this season.

Brown will need a big squad to ensure his side remains fresh and motivated, and the addition of a hungry youngster such as Edwards is exactly what he needs.

Stoke can keep close tabs on one of their brightest prospects, and Port Vale would acquire the services of a fantastic young talent.

A great move for all if a deal is agreed.

Could he cross the divide?
