Stoke City are closing in on the signing of Tom Ince, according to reports.

John Percy - of the Telegraph - reports that Stoke are close to agreeing a £10m transfer fee for Ince and hope to complete discussions over personal terms in the next few days.

Ince only joined Huddersfield Town last summer from Derby County, scoring three goals in 37 games after being handed his chance in the Premier League again.

But the Terriers are busy in the transfer market and could sanction Ince's departure to bring in new players instead.

The 26-year-old was sold by former Derby manager Gary Rowett after netting 38 times in 114 games for the Rams but now the same boss is set to re-sign him for Stoke.

The Potters are looking likely to complete this deal for Ince, who has also previously played for Blackpool and Hull City in his career.

The Verdict

Ince is likely to be a like-for-like replacement for Liverpool-bound Xherdan Shaqiri; a left-footed winger who prefers to start on the right and move in.

At Championship level, the former Liverpool academy product is a top player, offering goals and assists in abundance.

With Ince out wide, Stoke are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship this season.
