Stoke City boss Nathan Jones is expected to bring Paul Hart on board ahead of this weekend’s clash with Leeds United, with the experienced coach to join as his assistant manager.

Jones was recently appointed as Gary Rowett’s successor at the bet365 Stadium, initially brining Joaquin Gomez and Jared Roberts-Smith with him from Luton Town.

According to John Percy at the Telegraph, Jones will now team up with Hart again, after agreeing a deal with Notts County.

It’s expected that Hart will have arrived ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leeds to take up his role as Jones’ assistant at Stoke.

The clash with Leeds is Jones’ first home fixture in the Championship since taking charge of the Potters, with the former Luton boos beginning to look like he needs a result against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The Potters were well beaten last weekend by Brentford in the Championship, before they crashed out of the FA Cup to Shrewsbury Town during the week.

Jones’ side had led the clash 2-0, but the League One outfit battled back at the bet365 Stadium, securing a 3-2 win and progression to the fourth-round of the cup.

The Verdict

This is good news for Stoke and Jones.

Hart is an experienced coach who will make a difference at Stoke and hopefully results will improve following his arrival.

It’s a high-profile dressing room at the bet365, with Jones an inexperienced coach who could certainly benefit from having someone he trusts like Hart on board.
