Stoke City will be desperate for Nathan Collins to leave Burnley this summer, with StokeOnTrent Live reporting that the Potters could be set for a windfall as part of any sale.

The 21-year-old impressed as a teen with Stoke and made 39 league outings in the Championship despite his age. His talent and potential quickly impressed the Clarets, who snapped him up on a deal for the 2021/22 season.

Even though Burnley couldn't avoid the Premier League drop, Collins continued to impress as one of their better players. He played 19 times in the top flight and didn't look out of place in his first campaign at the top - and now there are plenty of clubs prepared to take him on a deal that would keep him in the Premier League.

Wolves and Leicester are two of the teams that head the list according to The Sun and there is plenty more interest where that came from too. That would give Collins the chance to not only stay in the top flight but also potentially push on towards the top end of the league too.

Burnley won't be eager to let go of him though and it means it might take a mega-money deal to prise him away from Turf Moor. That will be music to the ears of Stoke, who apparently have a clause in the deal to sell him to Burnley that means they would benefit from any sale this summer.

That could help the Potters with their own recruitment this offseason and add some extra funds to the coffers - so they'll be hoping that a deal to sell the 21-year-old goes through at some point.

The Verdict

Nathan Collins looks like he is far too good to continue playing in the Championship when you consider how well he performed in the Premier League.

Even with Burnley struggling at the wrong end of the top flight, he still managed to put in some solid showings and it is no surprise that there is now interest in his services. With age on his side and the potential to be one of the very best in his position in the future, a fee would have to be fairly high to force a deal through this summer.

Stoke could certainly use the funds from a deal. They struggled to get going last season after an early push towards the play-offs and will need a squad refresh and reshuffle this summer if they want to try and aim for a top six place again in the next campaign.

If a deal does happen - and is for mega money - then that would seriously help the Potters to recruit some of their bigger and better targets this offseason.
