Leicester City have tabled a £10 million offer for Harry Souttar, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The Stoke City defender is a standout figure in Alex Neil’s side and earned plenty of plaudits for his performances at the World Cup late last year.

The Potters have rejected Leicester’s initial advance, but it is believed that talks are set to continue between the two clubs.

Leicester are looking to make improvements to Brendan Rodgers’ side this month in order to avoid a potential relegation battle this season.

Souttar has emerged as one of the Championship’s brightest talents, and has immediately reasserted himself back into the Stoke side having recovered from a lengthy injury lay-off.

The centre back showcased his talent on the world stage in Qatar by playing a key role for Australia en route to a surprise Last 16 berth.

Souttar has made seven appearances in the league this season having missed the majority of the first half of the term due to injury.

Stoke are currently 20th in the league table, four points clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict

A £10 million fee is far too low for Stoke to even consider accepting so this is a good step for the club.

That Leicester are keen to continue talks suggests another offer may not be too far away.

But with a little under two weeks left in the window, Stoke will want a decision made on this deal quickly in case they need to line up a replacement.

But the ultimate fee should be much closer to £20 million given he has a contract to 2025 and is one of the team’s most important players.
