Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers are both interested in signing Lassine Sinayoko from Auxerre, even though the youngster has yet to play for the first-team this season.

The French outfit are currently fifth in Ligue 2 after a strong start to the season, which is why Sinayoko has found game time hard to come by. Instead, the 20-year-old has been playing for the reserve side, who play lower down the French leagues.

But, he appears to have caught the eye having scored six goals and provided two assists in the campaign so far. That's after L'Equipe claimed the Championship duo have registered their interest in the player ahead of the transfer window.

No further update is provided, in terms of the potential fee or whether a deal will happen next month, but it shows that the clubs are keen on adding to their options up top if possible.

Stoke are 8th in the Championship right now, with the R's down in 17th ahead of the busy festive period.

The verdict

This will be a new name to many fans out there, and in truth, there won't be many who know exactly how good Sinayoko is or could be.

Purely from the fact he isn't in the Auxerre team, you would imagine that he is one for the future, and at 20, he has his best years in front of him.

So, whilst fans may prefer someone to make an instant impact, it's good that clubs are checking on talented youngsters and it will be interesting to see if anything comes of this in the New Year.
