Stoke City have confirmed that first team trio Darren Fletcher; Charlie Adam and Jakob Haugaard will all leave the club in the summer, as will six members of The Potters' Under-23's squad.

The impending departures of midfielder duo Adam and Fletcher, as well as goalkeeper Haugaard, had been confirmed by the club earlier in the month, and they have now been made official with in Stoke's released and retained list for next season.

Midfielder Adam made 179 appearances for The Potters in  seven years with the Potters, while Fletcher featured 42 times in a two year spell at the club.

Haugaard meanwhile struggled for game time at the bet365 Stadium, making just seven appearances during his four seasons at the club.

The club also revealed that Under 23 players Mate Deczki; Daniel Gyollai, Moussa Niakate, Simranjit Thandi, Jacob Twyford and Mark Waddington will also leave the club, although 20-year-old midfielder Tre Pemberton has had a one year option on his contract taken up by the club.

The verdict

There is no surprises here, and with Stoke reportedly planning a summer overhaul, these decisions all seems to make sense.

Adam; Fletcher and Haugaard have all struggled for game time recently, so they were obvious contenders to be moved along when it came to making space in the wage budget for the summer transfer window.
