Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula could be set for an exit.

According to The Daily Mail, Imbula is attracting interest from some clubs in Spain and Stoke will let him leave.

The 25-year-old joined Stoke in a club record £18.3m move on deadline day in February 2016 but in two-and-a-half years at the club, he has managed just 28 outings.

Last season, the former France under-21 international spent the year on loan at Toulouse in France.

Imbula has not featured this season and Gary Rowett has favoured other central midfielders like Badou Ndiaye, Joe Allen, Oghenekaro Etebo, Darren Fletcher and Sam Clucas.

It looks like the 6ft 1in central midfielder is leaving Stoke with Spanish clubs circling.

Rowett is also willing to axe another duo of Stoke players, with Charlie Adam and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting deemed surplus to requirements.

The Verdict

This report does not indicate whether this is a loan or a permanent but either one will work for Stoke.

It is clear that Rowett does not want to use Imbula in his team this season, which is evident given his pursuit of Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods.

Imbula is a useful player on the continent and needs a fresh break as his spell in England has been a disaster.
