Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is being targeted by former Premier League winners Chelsea this summer, as the Blues prepare themselves for the potential loss of number one stopper Thibaut Courtois.
According to a report in the Sun, Butland is one of the names on the radar of new Chelsea manaer Maruizio Sarri, along with current England number one Jordan Pickford, who saw his stock rise considerably during this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Butland missed much of last season with yet another injury, but returned to the fray towards the end of the campaign and was indeed on the plane to Russia with Gareth Southgates men.
However, Chelsea will only make a move should number one stopper Courtois make a move to Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants expecting to make a big money move for the Belgian in the coming weeks.
Butland has been tipped by many in the game to be on the move this summer, with the Championship no doubt hindering his chances of displacing Pickford as number one for the Three Lions in the coming seasons.
Stoke are spending big at the moment, with the likes of Tom Ince, James McClean, and James Chester all set to be part of Gary Rowett’s squad next summer. Selling Butland would no doubt cushion the blow of spending so much money so far, with the stopper expected to fetch in the region of £30m.
Stoke fans, what do you think to this? Would you sell Butland? Let us know in the comments!
