Stoke City’s James McClean has been warned by the FA after he had a dig at Preston’s Ben Pearson on social media following North End’s 2-0 win at the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday.
Alex Neil’s men took the points from what was a very feisty encounter, with the Potters faithful not at all happy with the conduct of the visitors throughout the game.
One particular flashpoint saw McClean barge Pearson to the floor as both sides came together and he used that image, captioned with ‘Clean up in aisle four, there’s a b**** on the floor‘, in an Instagram Story post after the match.
And, Stoke-On-Trent Live have revealed that the FA have been in touch with McClean and they have warned the Irish international about his future conduct.
That means he won’t be banned but the winger is not going to feature for Michael O’Neill in the coming weeks as he picked up an injury that forced him off after the incident.
Stoke are back in action when they travel to take on QPR tomorrow.
Do you know where these 15 ex-Stoke City players are playing now?
This was pretty childish from McClean and he probably knew he would get pulled up about it as it’s not how professional’s should act.
However, you can understand why he was frustrated and a warning is the right response from the FA as it’s not a big deal really.
So, that should be the end of the matter. The bigger issue and frustration for the player will be the injury. He has been a key player for Stoke in recent weeks and will be sorely missed as they look to get away from the relegation zone.
