Stoke City face a battle to keep hold of Badou Ndiaye in the New Year with Galatasaray once again keen on signing the midfielder.

The Potters are in a dire situation in the Championship right now, with the managerless Staffordshire side currently six points from safety and bottom of the league.

However, that doesn't seem to have put off potential suitors to some of their players, with Turkish media outlet Fotomac claiming that current Super Lig champions Galatasaray want to bring Ndiaye back to the club.

The 29-year-old joined Stoke from the Istanbul outfit back in 2018 and spent last season on loan with the side as they won the league.

And, the report states that another temporary move for Ndiaye appeals to Gala, who have contacted the player's agent in a bid to sort a January transfer.

Ndiaye has featured in nine games for Stoke this season, including the 2-0 defeat to West Brom last night and has probably been one of the better performers in what has been a miserable campaign so far.

The verdict

Even though Ndiaye is an important member of this Stoke team, you can see this transfer happening.

Firstly, there were doubts as to whether the player wanted to stay in the summer, so the chance to return to a big club with European football and trying to win a league is going to appeal to him and he may push for a move.

Then, from a financial perspective, Stoke will need to start cutting costs significantly and reducing his wages would help a lot.
