Stoke City are interested in signing Al Ahly winger Mahmoud Saber in this summer’s transfer window.

According to The Sun, Gary Rowett’s new side have shown interest in signing one of Egypt’s most sought-after young talents.

The 16-year-old plays his football for Egyptian Premier League side Ah Ahly’s Under-16 team, where he has netted eight times and contributed with a hefty 30 assists, helping his side win their division.

Stoke City will face stiff competition to sign the forward, however, as Valencia and Ajax are also keen on securing Saber’s signature this summer.

The pace, trickery and goal scoring and assisting ability of Mahmoud Saber has even drawn similarities to that of Liverpool sensation Mohamed Salah.

West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi was signed on a permanent deal from Mahmoud Saber’s current side Al Ahly earlier this year, while Salah played for Cairo rivals El Mokawloon at the beginning of his career.

The Verdict

It is every manager’s dream to discover a new world-class talent, and with the rise of Mohamed Salah, could this young Egyptian winger replicate the Liverpool star's career?

While it is hugely unlikely that Gary Rowett would drop Saber into the first team upon arrival, perhaps the youngster is a name to look out for in years to come.

Stoke City are in desperate need of securing some new signings, however, as they are bound to lose some of their key men this summer, following their relegation from the Premier League.
