Stoke City have joined the chase to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Sky Sports Transfer Centre (07/01, 14:21).

The 19-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United, but he was recalled by Spurs recently, after struggling for game time at Elland Road.

Spurs are looking to send the highly-rated attacker out on loan to another club for the second half of the campaign and if recent reports are to believed, a number of Championship sides have expressed an interest in signing him.

Football Insider claim that Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall are leading the chase to sign Clarke, while Middlesbrough, Fulham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are also understood to be interested in the player.

However, according to Sky Sports Transfer Centre (07/01, 14:21), Michael O'Neill's Stoke have now also joined the chase to sign the winger, although Spurs want assurances over his game time before making their decision.

Clarke came through the academy at Leeds and was one of the most exciting young players in the Championship last season. He joined Tottenham for £10million in the summer, but immediately returned to Elland Road on loan to gain more experience.

QUIZ: Do you know where these 15 ex-Stoke City players are playing now?

The Verdict

Clarke is a very promising young player and I personally think he'd be a great signing for any of these clubs. Things didn't work out for him after he returned to Leeds, but he's still more than capable of making an impact in the Championship.

He was one of the most skilful and exciting young players in the Championship last season and he could have a very bright future ahead of him, but he needs to make sure he's experiencing regular first-team football.

With so many clubs interested in signing him this month, it'll be very interesting to see where he ends up.
