Stoke City will look to bring Tony Pulis back to the bet365 Stadium if they choose to part company with Nathan Jones, according to reports from The Sun.

The Potters have endured a dismal start to the 2019/20 season, picking up two points from their first nine league games, and sitting rock-bottom of the league table after defeat to Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

It has been a tenure of turmoil for Jones since his move from Luton Town to Staffordshire last season, with the Welshman winning only four out of 33 games in charge of the club heading into tonight's clash with Huddersfield Town.

And with the board's patience wearing thin, it is now claimed by The Sun that Pulis will be offered the chance to take over at the bet365 Stadium for a third time, if they choose to get rid of Jones.

Pulis is no stranger to the Potters faithful - the 61-year-old has managed the club on two different occasions, taking them up to the Premier League in 2008 during his seven-year tenure.

The Potters also reached an FA Cup final in 2011 with Pulis at the helm, and he left the club in 2013 after winning 122 out of 333 games in his second spell in charge.

He has since moved onto Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough, but left the latter at the end of last season, after failing to guide them into the Championship promotion spots.

The Verdict

I personally think that Pulis would be a terrible appointment for Stoke.

He may be a popular figure amongst the Potters faithful, but you only have to look at his time at West Brom and Middlesbrough to see that he is becoming outdated as a manager.

He is known for his direct, long-ball style of play, and I just don't think that philosophy would suit Stoke's flair players whatsoever.
