Championship newboys Stoke City are hoping to wrap up the signing of West Brom winger James McClean in the coming days, according to a report in the Sun.

The Irish winger, who has caused controversy at times with his off field comments during his time with the Baggies, is set to make a £5m move to the Potters and will become yet another big money signing for new Stoke manager Gary Rowett.

McClean, who has played himself into being a regular at the Hawthorns with some direct running and impressive performances down the left hand side, will no doubt be hoping for a fresh start under Rowett as he leaves behind new West Brom manager Darren Moore.

Capped over 50 times for his country and a regular in the squad, McClean will bring with him a host of top flight experience and quality to the ranks at Stoke, and it will be interesting to see if West Brom do indeed regret the decision to let him leave for a potential promotion rival.

Stoke manager Gary Rowett is hoping to reshape his squad over the summer and secure an immediate path back to the top flight. He is expected to add Newcastle winger Matt Ritchie to his squad in the coming days too.

Potters fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
