Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes is interested in the managerial role at Stoke City, according to reports from the Mirror.

The Potters are currently in turmoil having won just one of their last five games in the Championship, with the pressure mounting on manager Gary Rowett.

Despite an influx of big-money signings in the summer, the Staffordshire club currently sit eight points off the play-off places.

After being held to a 1-1 draw at League One strugglers Shrewsbury Town in the F.A Cup on Saturday afternoon, time is running out for the former Derby County boss, and after being considered as first-choice for the managerial role, reports have now surfaced that Moyes is interested in becoming the new Stoke manager.

Having turned down the opportunity to become the new manager of Fenerbache in the summer, the 55-year old, who has managed over 900 games in his career, is interested in the job at the bet365 Stadium - despite reportedly wanting a job in the MLS.

The Potters have a huge couple of weeks ahead of them, with a trip to Brentford and a home clash with Leeds United on the cards.

The Verdict

Moyes is likely to be a popular choice within the Stoke City faithful due to his experience and calibre, but I’m really not sure he’s what Stoke needs.

He hasn’t really succeeded since his departure from Everton, and he divided opinions during his spell at West Ham United.

He’s a Premier League manager for sure, but I think there are better options out there for the Potters.
