Stoke City are hoping to keep changes to a minimum as they look to get back to winning ways against Millwall this weekend.

A 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the week has halted the Potters progress after Nathan Jones' men went to Hillsborough on the back of successive victories - the only times they have won in the Championship this season.

However, assistant Paul Hart insists that the loss in Yorkshire hasn't dented confidence too much and revealed that the idea is to try and get some continuity by going with a similar XI.

"We’re going to wait as long as possible and make as few changes as we can. The game itself was not a great game technically and we’ve got to give Sheffield Wednesday credit for the way he got about us," he told Stoke-On-Trent Live.

Despite that, Jones is sure to have a few decisions to make for the trip to The Den.

Midfielder Peter Etebo and centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers were both forced off in the first half against Wednesday, and right-back Tom Edwards couldn't complete the game. All three will be assessed in the next 24 hours.

Elsewhere, there was some positive news as Bruno Martins-Indi looks ready to return having missed the defeat last time out.

The verdict

You can understand Hart's comments here as fans were rightly frustrated in the early part of the season that changes were made too frequently.

So, they are right to settle on a formation and give some a chance to prove they deserve to be in the XI.

But, injuries have obviously played a big part in the week and it will be very interesting to see what the team is at The Den because it sounds as though they are still unsure on a few important players in terms of their fitness.
