Championship newcomers Stoke City are edging closer to completing a deal for Huddersfield Town winger Tom Ince, according to a report in the Daily Star.

The Potters are looking to replace the recently sold Xherdan Shaqiri, and manager Gary Rowett is now close to landing a replacement in Ince, who struggled for the Terriers last season despite helping them to Premier League safety.

Ince, who has had plenty of different clubs already in his young career, will no doubt be partially disappointed to once again see his Premier League dream come to an end, however, Stoke are firm favourites to win immediate promotion back to the top flight, and it could well only be a short spell in the Championship for Ince.

A fee in the region of £10m has reportedly been agreed for the winger, and a medical is due to completed today or tomorrow, more or less confirming Ince's status as a Stoke player.

Potters manager Gary Rowett is splashing the cash this summer already, adding the likes of James McClean, James Chester and Benik Afobe to a squad which is already riddled with Premier League quality talent.

Ince will be hoping to make a big impact at the Bet365 stadium, and follow on from his previous form in the Championship with the likes of Derby and Hull City.
