Stoke City could be prepared to give the green light to Brighton to recall Abdallah Sima from his loan spell with the Potters after a difficult start to the season for him, according to the Stoke Sentinel.

Sima only arrived on a permanent deal at Brighton in the summer with him heading to England with a burgeoning reputation following his impressive form with Slavia Prague last term. He managed to fire home 11 goals in 21 appearances for his former club last term to underline his potential.

Brighton sanctioned a loan deal to Stoke for Sima to try and get him game time in English football ahead of a return to the Seagulls next season. However, the attacker has endured an injury-hit start to life with the Potters and has made just four appearances in all competitions so far as a result.

Reports have recently suggested that Brighton could consider recalling Sima during the winter transfer window to try and provide their squad with more options following them suffering recent issues on the injury front.

According to the latest update from the Stoke Sentinel, the Potters could be tempted to allow Brighton to activate their recall option on the attacker. However, that would only be providing that they are able to bring in attacking reinforcements before that recall option is activated.

The verdict

This would be a potentially beneficial solution for all concerned here because Sima’s loan spell with Stoke has not really worked out for him so far. He has suffered with injury issues and he might now face a tough challenge to convince Michael O’Neill that he can be trusted to play a key role for the Potters in the rest of the campaign.

Brighton obviously rate Sima’s potential and it did seem like an exciting addition to the squad for Stoke when the loan deal was announced. However, it seems that the attacker has not been able to show his quality enough to O’Neill when he has been fit if they are ready to allow him to be recalled.

A recall would enable Sima to return to Brighton and try and impress Graham Potter enough to earn first-team minutes with the Seagulls. It could also enable them to send him out on another loan deal to a club that might offer him more chances to feature.

To justify letting Sima go though, Stoke would need to have someone lined up who can come into the side and offer more for them in the final third. Without a replacement, it would potentially risk leaving the Potters light on forward options.
