Championship side Stoke City have a "serious interest" in Dijon attacker Bersant Celina, according to a Twitter update from journalist Ertan Suzgun.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town and made 32 League One appearances in the process, with his arrival in the third tier being seen as a coup by many as he was one of 19 signings recruited by Paul Cook last summer.

Although he hasn't extended his stay at Portman Road, he recorded a respectable six goals and six assists for Kieran McKenna's side and impressed at times, with his efforts catching the eye of multiple sides.

The Potters are believed to be one side who are interested in taking him away from current side Dijon, with his contract not expiring until the summer of 2024 after putting pen to paper on a long-term contract with the French outfit back in 2020.

Unfortunately, his current side didn't manage to get back to the top tier of French football at the first time of asking and that could potentially tempt the Kosovan to ply his trade elsewhere.

Michael O'Neill's side aren't the only team in the race for his signature though, with Turkish top-tier outfit Kasimpasa already making an official offer.

The Verdict:

Dijon were open to offloading Celina last year and they may also be open to a fresh agreement this year too, so the Potters may have to move quickly if they want to secure an agreement for his services.

At this stage, loaning in fellow target Elliot Anderson may be the cheaper option but with several sides thought to be in the race for the 19-year-old's signature, they may have a better chance of landing the 25-year-old.

Already spending time in the UK with the likes of the Tractor Boys, Manchester City and Swansea, it shouldn't take him too long to settle down in Staffordshire and could be a bright addition if he can replicate and/or improve his record from last season.

At this stage, he probably wouldn't be one of the first names on the teamsheet but could make a good impact from the bench and arguably showed enough last season to warrant a move to a higher level.

He has also shown in the past that he can operate in multiple positions, making him a potentially useful squad player to have at the bet365 Stadium if they have the funds to get this deal over the line.
