Stoke manager, Nathan Jones, has stated that he's 'embarrassed' by the current position that the Potters are in heading into the first international break of the season.

Jones' side currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table having picked up just one point in their opening six fixtures.

The job doesn't get much easier after the international break, as the Potters host fifth placed, Bristol City.

Stoke fell short once again on Saturday at Birmingham City. Having taken the lead, the Potters conceded twice in the last 20 minutes to condemn them to their fifth defeat in six in the Championship.

Such a low points tally even has manager Jones speculating about his own future but he insists that Stoke will only make a change at the last resort.

Speaking to the Stoke Sentinel, Jones said: "A lot of people think changing the manager is the easy option.

"Here, there’s been a culture of not winning football matches, whoever’s been in charge, so something has to change.

"You can change the manager and go down that route, but these are good people and they don’t like changing managers.

"That’s why I came here. They will do it as a last resort.

"People on the outside might think they are massively under-achieving at Stoke, they’re bottom of the league.

"We shouldn’t be bottom of the league and I’m embarrassed that we are, but we won’t be there for long. We will not be there for long.”

The Verdict

It'll be interesting to see whether Stoke decide to make a change after what has been an awful run of form for Jones' side. He is right to be embarrassed after a frankly disastrous start.

Failing to pick up a victory in the next two fixtures would surely spell the end for Jones. Having not won a league game this season, you can tell in his interviews that he's under pressure.

He seems to have had chats with the people in charge of his position, and believes that he can turn it around. We will see.
