Stockton came out of the club’s youth academy and made his debut in January 2012, going on to feature 68 times and netting 10 goals.

Rovers boss Rob Edwards told the club’s official website: “He’s a talented young footballer with loads of potential.

“He’s got a hammer of a right foot which will get us goals, but we’re trying to add more things to his game too.

“If he continues to apply himself and show the right attitude he’s got a bright future ahead of him in the game and at this club.”

The striker becomes the fifth former Tranmere academy player to pen a new deal this summer, behind Jason Koumas, Jake Kirby, Sam Ramsbottom and Liam Davies.
