You can only beat what is put in front of you and yesterday, Stoke City beat a struggling Ipswich side who appear to have a one-way ticket to League One at the moment.

It wasn't a classic performance from Gary Rowett's side, but they did what was needed in securing a 2-0 win to leave themselves just four points outside the top six.

Tom Ince scored deep into first half injury time, with Joe Allen bagging a second on the hour mark to ensure they took all three points from a wholly uninspiring game.

Afterwards, Stoke City fans seemed somewhat divided in their opinions. Some feel that the win masks a poor performance and one which will not stand up to the Aston Villa test they face next weekend.

Others feel that in lamenting the win, they're underestimating the resilience of the Ipswich side. Those same positive souls have pointed out that the Potters are within touching distance of the play offs without ever truly hitting top gear.

Here are some arguments from both sides of the divide, courtesy of Twitter.
