Angel Rangel is still going at 37-years-old.
The Queens Park Rangers man joined the club at the start of last season on a short-term contract. But the Spaniard impressed enough to see his deal be extended until the end of the season, before re-signing again for this 2019/20 season.
He’s continuing to defy his age and has played another important role for the club, featuring 18 times in the Championship. Injury has beset him on occasion but when fit, Rangel still looks as good as he did all them years ago with Swansea.
Whilst Rangel has been an impressive number this season, he like everybody else in the QPR side has come under scrutiny at times – largely because of his age and subsequent lack of pace, but the clout around Rangel has been mainly positive.
Can you get 15 out of 15 on this QPR quiz? Have a go now!
Some say he’s ‘past it’, whilst others say that he offers very little going forward – the second part is true to an extent, but Rangel’s defensive abilities are as good as any full-backs in the English Football League.
A third rolling season at QPR might be one too many, but he’s stated on his Instagram before that he feels he has another season in him, and that he’d like to remain at QPR.
Only time will tell regarding his future but for now, he’s leaving at the end of the season. He’d depart with fond memories of the club, and the fans of him too – he’s been an unlikely saviour at times for QPR, and here’s what fans have been saying about him this season:
Angel Rangel still going strong at 37 for QPR. Fair play!

Angel Rangel against Swansea:
60 passes (most on the pitch)
73 touches (3rd most on the pitch)
3 interceptions (2nd most for QPR)
4 clearances (2nd most for QPR)

I'd say Pugh or Angel might be worth keeping on as back up. It's difficult to know without seeing their wages and knowing how much to play with when looking for a replacement.
