Aston Villa made it three wins on the bounce with an impressive 1-0 success at Nottingham Forest that came courtesy of a Scott Hogan header.

It means Villa have emerged from a tricky run of games against Middlesbrough away, Bristol City at home and Forest away with nine points from nine and without conceding a goal.

Steve Bruce's men are fourth in the table and five points behind Derby County who currently occupy the second automatic promotion position.

Yesterday's win was Aitor Karanka's first in charge of Forest and fans were in an optimistic mood following their FA Cup victory over Arsenal last week.

Yet, Villa produced another strong performance and deservedly took all three points after Hogan's early strike from a Robert Snodgrass cross.

They saw the game out relatively comfortably to hold onto the three points and the supporters were unsurprisingly delighted with the win.
