Stoke City have confirmed that centre back Liam Lindsay has left the club to re-join Championship rivals Preston North End on a permanent basis.

Lindsay joined Stoke from Barnsley in the summer of 2019, but struggled to make an impression at the Bet365 Stadium.

The defender made 23 appearances in all competitions for the Potters, none of which came in the league last season, and he was loaned out to Preston during the 2021 January transfer window.

He then went on to play 13 times for North End during the second half of the season, scoring twice to help the Lancashire club to a 13th-place in the final Championship standings, one position ahead of Stoke.

Now it has been announced that Lindsay has returned to Preston permanently for an undisclosed fee, with the 25-year-old putting pen to paper on a two-year deal that secures his future at Deepdale until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Lindsay's departure, plenty of Stoke fans were keen to give their thoughts on this latest pieces of transfer business.

Here, we take a look at what some of those Potters supporters had to say.
