Stevenage manager Graham Westley hopes his side can put in a strong performance, after picking up just one point from their last two league games.

Westley saw his side concede a last minute penalty during a 1-1 draw against Plymouth midweek but is ready for the tough match against Wycombe Wanderers.

“We know at the weekend we’ll get what we earn from the performance we put in. We’re getting ready to put in a really strong performance,” said the 46-year-old, speaking to the club’s website.

“We’re back on home territory after two away days. We’ll be better as a team for the three league games that we’ve played together and it’s up to us to make sure we are.”

Wycombe suffered their first league defeat of the season, losing 2-0 at home to Tranmere Rovers and Westley knows they will be full of confidence.

“These (Wycombe) have started with two wins in their first three, so they’ve got a bit of confidence and a bit of form, we’ll need to be on our mettle to beat them.

“When you look back we beat Hartlepool but they went on to lose their next two league games, so arguably they’re one of the lower end sides at this moment in time.

“Wycombe are one of the top end sides at this moment in time so we know we’re going to have to work very hard to win the football match. It’ll be a good test,” he concluded.

Stevenage play Wycombe Wanderers at The Lamex, on Saturday afternoon.
