Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on young defender Joe Worrall with rumours rife that Rangers are interested in the Nottingham Forest defender.

The young centre-back looks low down on the pecking order at the City Ground this season under Aitor Karanka and could well need a move away to continue progressing.

Indeed, according to the Daily Record, the Gers are interested in the player this summer with them starting this season pretty well under new manager Gerrard.

And, as quoted by Sky Sports, the former Liverpool midfielder certainly didn't hold back in his praise for the young defender.

He said:

“Worrall's a fantastic player. I have followed him for many years with England. Really good player, but no, I don’t think I have to add anymore to that really.”

The Verdict

Rangers are looking strong domestically whilst in Europe they take a slender lead to Russia in their bid to qualify for this season's Europa League group stages.

Their early success is largely thanks to sound defensive work, too, and so if Worrall was to sign he would surely improve his own game defensively as well as bringing quality to the Rangers squad.

He's behind four players by the looks of things for his spot in the Forest side but that might not be the case at Ibrox and so, potentially, it could be a move that suits all involved.
