QPR boss Steve McClaren believes his side will be taking on the best side in the Championship when they host Leeds United tonight.

The R's are on a desperate run of form that has seen them lose seven league games in a row, leaving them nervously looking over their shoulder as they may be dragged into a relegation battle.

And, they face another tough task tonight, with the Yorkshire Evening Post revealing that McClaren declared Leeds as the best in the division in his programme notes ahead of the game.

"We should be relishing the opportunity to play, for me, the top team in the Championship."

Marcelo Bielsa's side are currently third in the table but they will leapfrog their rivals and lead the way should they pick up all three points at Loftus Road.

They will also head in to the game full of confidence having recorded back-to-back home victories against Swansea and Bolton recently.

Although, the Londoners will take hope from the fact that they knocked Leeds out of the FA Cup at home when the sides met last month.

The Verdict

This is a fair assessment from McClaren and if Leeds win tonight then the table will say they are the best team in the league too!

You expect these sort of comments from a manager ahead of the game though as it's a way of the ex-England boss easing the pressure on his players.

Whilst Leeds are undoubtedly a very good side, anything can happen in the Championship and it will be interesting to see how this plays out as it's a huge fixture for both teams.
