After a dismal start to the season, things can surely only get better for Queens Park Rangers.

The West London side find themselves sitting in 22nd position after six league games, after winning once, drawing once, and losing four times.

After a short international break, Steve McClaren's men will be looking to kick on from his side's 0-0 draw away at Birmingham City, in which was a valiant defensive performance by the R's.

If the club are to improve however, then they need to find a way of getting the ball in net more often; the London club are the lowest scorers in the division thus far with three league goals to their name.

With that being said, here, we take a look at two players who should be used as impact subs for QPR this weekend against Bolton Wanderers.

With McClaren's men struggling to find the net, youngster Paul Smyth should definitely be used as an impact sub on Saturday.

The forward was extremely impressive for Northern Ireland under-21s in their famous victory over Spain in midweek, and was a constant threat throughout the night, typified when he was brought down a penalty, which made it 2-0 on the night.

Renowned for his electric pace and keen eye for goal, Smyth has already started once this year, and off the back of a magnificent result in midweek, should definitely be involved off the bench this weekend when Bolton's defence is weary.

Many criticised McClaren for not making a substitute until the 84th minute against Birmingham, where the R's were crying out for a bit of pace out wide, which came to no avail.

Bright Osayi-Samuel is a player who could have came on to offer that pace and skill out wide, and should the R's find themselves in that predicament again this weekend, the 20-year old should be the one to come off the bench and make an impact.
