Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill has faith in his side ahead of tonight's game against Portsmouth despite their goalless start to the season.

Although they have kicked off their season with losses against Burton and Morecambe, Cotterill told the Shropshire Star, "I still believe in the lads that we've got, very much so."

In his analysis of Town's first two games he said, "It's funny really because one chance going in, if we'd have gone 1-0 up against Burton it'd be a different game.

"When I look at Morecambe, we've given away a really sloppy penalty, we've lost a runner and given away a ball we had no right to get. We were the better team up to that goal, much the better team. We looked confident and needed a chance to go in."

Tonight Shrewsbury travel to Fratton Park to face a Portsmouth side who have had a better start to their season, winning their two opening games.

Looking ahead to the game Cotterill remarked, "There isn't a lot wrong with us, we've got a tough game at Pompey, but there isn't a lot wrong with us."

The Verdict:

Steve Cotterill is bound to be disappointed with his side's start to the season especially as they are yet to score a goal.

Portsmouth will be a tough game for Shrewsbury this evening as they will look to carry on the momentum from their opening games with the possibility of ending the evening at the top of the table should other results go their way.

Shrewsbury will have to go into this game with a strong set up and even if they can't claim the three points, a goal this evening could help them kick off their season.
