Birmingham manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed that Jacques Maghoma and David Davis are doubtful for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

The pair starred as the Blues overcame relegation rivals Sunderland at St Andrew’s on Tuesday, but could now be set to miss the must-win match at Hillsborough.

Both Maghoma and Davis were forced off through injury during the clash with the Black Cats, with Maghoma pulling up with a groin injury and Davis withdrawing following an issue with his thigh.

Birmingham have been in excellent form of late, with the midweek win lifting them out of the relegation zone for the first time in months, and their loss will be a blow to the Blues’ survival hopes.

The Verdict

Birmingham boss Steve Cotterill needs all the luck he can get if the Blues are to avoid the drop this season, but it appears everything has gone against him following the knocks to his instrumental duo.

Both players have been in sensational form in recent weeks, and fans will have relied upon the pair to deliver again this weekend against a beleaguered Owls side.

Each player has a small chance of proving their fitness ahead of the clash, but it appears likely Cotterill will have to head to Yorkshire without his star men.
