Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill has responded with his usual honesty and passion following some recent criticism from Birmingham City fans, who have seen their club fall to just one point and one place above the bottom three.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Cotterill issued a lengthy response to the recent criticisms and vowed to get it right for the Blues, if he is given the time.

"What’s happened this year is that there has been a lot of money spent and a lot of hype talked about promotion and We’re going to do and we’re going to do that. They’ve had a few down years here and I think that what happened was that it raised the expectancy levels of the football club without any real substance behind it." said Cotterill.

“They were probably looking forward to this year and thinking it could be our year to get back into the Premier League."
The message from Cotterill is a strong indication of the fight still in the Blues manager, who is hoping to see his side bounce back following a 5-0 thumping last time out.
Cotterill also insisted he does not 'take it personal' when he hears fan criticism, and also made his thoughts known in that he is aware that it can be painful for fans.
Birmingham will be hoping to pull off the miracle escape once again this time around after just clinging on to their Championship status last season.
Blues fans, what do you think? Will Cotterill get it right? Let us know in the comments!
