Steve Cotterill has recently given an update on Shrewsbury midfielder Josh Vela who has been missing for the last couple of games after picking up an injury against AFC Wimbledon.

Vela limped off the field during the 2-1 win over Wimbledon after taking a bang to the knee in the second half.

He was since missing from the match-day squad against Wycombe and it remains to be seen when the midfielder will be fully recovered from the knock.

Speaking to the Shropshire Star, Cotterill was asked about the condition of the midfielder after his recent knock.

"(He's) OK – just not OK enough.

”We just have to monitor him over the next few days and see how it is and how it settles down.

"It's a tough one for us to take really, but having said that last night – while we didn't want to have him missing – nobody let the team down. I thought they were excellent to a man.”

The Verdict

Shrewsbury may still well be missing Vela as they face the midfielders’ former side Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium this weekend.

With Bolton the firm favourites for the clash, it would be a huge boost for Town to have the midfielder back fit but whether he will make it for this weekend's clash remains to be seen.
