Swansea have had a very good start to the season, and have surprisingly found themselves in and around the race for the automatic promotion places so early into the campaign.

Steve Cooper got the Swans off to a flier, as they went unbeaten in their first six games, even beating Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United at Elland Road.

It was a fantastic set of results, and many people opened their eyes to a side that could potentially challenge for the top six, especially playing the way they had.

However, after the international break, the Swans have faced two opponents who many think will be up and around the promotion battle, but were unable to find victory in either of the games.

Cooper's side didn't score in either game but would have learned a lot from the winless fixtures. This weekend they take on a Reading side who have lost their last three in the league, so will be hoping to get back to winning ways at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea have a strong squad in the Championship and will be hoping that they can bring some consistency into the Welsh club in terms of performances and selection. That is the key for them to carry on having a successful season.

So far, the team has pretty much stayed the same since André Ayew came into the starting XI and bar a couple of changes here and there, Cooper seems to have a general first XI that he sees as his best lineup.

This is the best way forward for the club as it can start seeing some of the consistency that was shown in the opening weeks.

Even in defeat, it was a tight encounter and the Swans lost by just the odd goal. The defence has stayed the same for much of the season, but a Jake Bidwell red card means that there may be some interesting team selection ahead of their match against Jose Gomes' Reading.

Again, after a fine start to the season Borja Baston has failed to hit the target in recent weeks, but as said earlier, Cooper must resist temptation to change the team around, especially in a league such as the Championship.

If they can keep building with their regular starters than Swansea will continue to be in and around promotion contention.
