Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has revealed that he expects incomings at the City Ground when the transfer window opens, as he stressed the importance of doing business early.

The former Swansea chief has transformed the Reds since taking over, with Forest now in the mix for a top six finish.

Therefore, the New Year is going to be crucial for Forest as Cooper looks to bring in the players that ensure his team can last the distance in the race to go up.

And, speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, the boss gave an insight into what he wants to happen.

"I hope so, in terms of players coming in. If you’re going to bring any players in that you’ve identified you want, you want it to be as soon as possible.

"It’s not always as easy as that, and I’m sure the swings and roundabouts will go right until the last day of the window. But if we were in a position to do some business early, then that would be very, very good."

The verdict

Firstly, you'd have to say that Cooper's confidence of bringing new signings in is a major positive as Forest do need a few players with quality to add that little bit more to the squad.

As for the timeframe, as he says, you want to get the business done quickly because it gives the individuals more time to get to know what the manager wants and to settle in.

So, it will be interesting to see what happens but you would expect Forest to be active as they look to kick-on for the rest of the campaign.
